Global warming and Canada
Global warming has set alarm bells ringing round the globe. Everyone is deeply concerned and wants everyone else to take efforts to reduce their contribution to global warming, from people to governments to industries. But, Canada is one place that may be more than happy if Global warming continues. No, it’s not because Canada would be happy to feast on other countries’ losses; it is because Canada will then have converted its greatest disadvantage into an advantage. The extremely cold weather of Canada is one of the greatest hurdles in increasing the population, directly and indirectly (by attracting immigrants) and global warming is set to cure it.
But, everything is not as rosy as we might like it to be. Global warming will also cause a number of ice blocks in Canada to melt. A number of animals and other living things might not be able to cope up with this change in weather and there is a possibility they will no longer be found in Canada. Recently, a few forests caught fire in Canada, which is very rare, and experts believe that Global warming is the reason why these fires could sustain and gulp down the entire forests.
But, as the name says, Global warming is not just about Canada, it is global and not local. Local warming may have a few perks for Canada, but Global warming doesn’t. Other countries’ losses will eventually turn out to be Canada’s losses. The increased costs, rising sea level, hurricanes believed to have been caused by global warming, etc. affect a number of countries and would indirectly also affect Canada.
But, in the short term, Global warming is set to reduce the number of lives lost every year due to extreme cold in Canada and a few other countries up in the North. Hence, a number of experts believe that the current levels of Global warming has been very beneficial for Canada and a little more warming can definitely help. But, overall, even Canada has to take part in the efforts to reduce the rate of increase of Global warming, as in the long term even it is bound to be adversely affected by it.
