Energy crisis is a looming menace for mankind and we are yet to find a panacea for it. The rate of energy consumption of humans is considered as the sign of development and the countries that consume the largest amount of energy per capita are said to be the most advanced. Our consumption of energy at these alarming rates has strained the supply side immensely and this is seen in the mind-boggling rise in the price of crude oil, coal or even electricity. In the past 100 years, we have used over 60% of energy reserves accumulated over a million years. It is not difficult to see that we need stringent measures to limit our energy consumption if we want to continue obtaining energy when we need it, and to make it available to our future generations. Following are some points to ways to save energy resources.
• Oil is one of the most pressed natural energy resource at the moment and we should do all that we can to save it. Firstly, you can reduce the gas consumption of your vehicles by limiting your travel by vehicles, maybe opting to walk or use public transport. The next time you buy a car, opt for a fuel efficient one instead of the gas guzzling SUVs. Hybrid and electric cars are the best option to save energy resources.
• On a large scale, societies can implement solar energy water heaters, solar energy lamps, and solar energy electricity generation for local use. This reduces the consumption of electricity and hence, saves energy resources.
• Simple acts such as switching off electrical appliances such as bulbs, fans, air conditioners, etc. when not required can also contribute a lot. Opting for energy efficient electrical appliances is a positive step towards the goal of saving natural resources.
• Industries can contribute at much higher levels in saving the natural resources by optimizing production methods, selecting the right materials, and increasing the efficiency of the plants while opting for renewable energy sources.
These were just a few examples and it can be seen that most were very easy which we can definitely implement in our day to day life. How to save energy resources is actually a fairly simple question to answer once we have decided to save energy resources.
